Biofilms

This month Cara & I are taking an online class on biofilms. It is somewhat on the edge of her area of study so some things she has been very familiar with whilst others have been new. I did not realize that all chronic infections are caused by biofilms, agglutinations of bacteria usually adhered to a surface. I guess that's why splinters could be so deadly in pre-20th century naval warfare! The class is from Københavns Universitet and video lectures are from a variety of professors, some more skilled in English than others. Generally the idiosyncracies add to the charm rather than distracting from understanding, except maybe the lectures by Sloth from Goonies.
