A week ago we were in the Atlanta area for New Years and Ray
joined us Wogslands at Packie & Ansley's for lunch. It was
the first we'd seen Ray since he moved out of our house and back
into his after evicting Colleen & Zach. We have seen pictures,
but seeing Ray in person really brought home the devastation
they wrought on him. Besides spending thousands to clean out
everything from broken furniture to feces on the wall to a dead
cat being eaten by other cats, they all took his nice things. The
entertainment center. The kitchen cookware. Photos from his and
Bev's wedding. This last one struck me as the worst. Other things
are replaceable. Not those.
I do my best to preserve the important details of family history
for subsequent genertations, so that loss really got me thinking
about preservation. I have lots of data and lots of backups in
lots of different physical locations. But not our wedding photos.
And not lots of photos from childhood.
