The morning started off for Axel & I with a run around the Universität Bayreuth campus. It was ~4 miles and took us straight through the Tiergarten. I start off fast and slow down as I run and Axel starts slow and speeds up as he warms up, but we managed to stay together at a good pace. Then I woke up Cara and we got ready for the day, which began with a lovely spread for breakfast. The Enders really were fabulous hosts!

The activity for the day was exploration of downtown Bayreuth, and we saw the palace gardens (where I stole an apple), the old cathedral, Wagner's house, and discovered that Woolworth's is still going strong in Deutschland even though it's long gone back in the states. We lunched, outdoors of course, at Oskar's where I had a Grillhaxe that just fell off the bone.

That evening we walked to a Biergarten under a storks nest for dinner and more conversation. Axel is one of those friends that you can not see for years and then just fall right back in with, and Susan likewise. They have the sweetest kids as well, who ran around the Biergarten collecting sweets and playing by the caged animals that were there for their entertainment.

The time there truly was not long enough!
