This week Cara & I were both here, and Maxwell & Zara
were home from school. Spring Break it's called. Although it
wasn't much of a break for the adults. Cara's thesis defense
is coming up fast and I'm back in the deadline driven business
world. It's good to have goals.
While Cara was on her second trip to Norway the kids really
embraced their heritage and, with the help of the Duolingo
phone app, took to speaking Norwegian. They continued this
week, allowing the 3 of us to converse without Cara knowing
what we're saying.
From my vlog last weekend, you know that I intended to run a
25K. What I didn't find out until afterward, when I looked at
my finisher glass, was that it was actually a 27K. Tricksy
Hardin & Goodwin are. Also, there was no appearance by
William Wallace this year. I guess that schtick got old. But
the race being 27K means that my 4 hour time was a PR, my 5th
straight of the year. But only because I haven't run that
distance before. As a 25K it would NOT have been a PR! Hopefully
next month I'll make it 6 in a row with my 2nd marathon. But
my May race will be an obstacle course with Zinny, so it'll be
fun but definitely no PR.
Brittan passed through Nashville earlier in the week on her
way to Chicago, but we didn't have a chance to see her. She
deftly uses buses, trading time for precious coin she cannot
afford. It's ironic that in youth one feels the pinch of money
but an abundance of time.
It's been nice have Maxwell & Zara fixing some meals this
week, as we'd kind of gotten out of the habit. Well, Maxwell
feeds us pretty regularly, but it's generally pretty spontaneous
and unplanned. We now have a dinner schedule again, something
we've been neglecting since last year.
Raising a family is tough. It's nice to do a reset. And tonight
we're on #2 in The Matrix trilogy.
