Seattle Bound

So I'm sitting in the Nashville airport tonight watching a lovely redhead with a guitar waiting for my 7:40 PM flight that so far has been delayed until 9PM. But Southwest assures me they're holding the connecting flight in Denver because 12 other people are getting it. Cara's here with me. We're flying to Seattle for a marathon. I'm flying across the country to run a marathon. I've been training for it. I can afford it. I kind of feel like I've made it. We're staying with the Diggins while we're out there. Kirsten is doing a postdoc like Cara will be in a few weeks and Zac works for Space X. They're quite the power couple. Also, I love their dog, Ginger.

The marathon's Sunday. The expo where I pick up my bib is tomorrow. I've watched so many of my friends travel specifically for races, I'm super excited to be doing it myself now. We'll see if I can beat my time from April. I've been training. And it'll be cooler in Seattle than Nashville was that day. But I've been nursing shin splints the past couple weeks since I got back from Boulder. At least I've tapered well!

After the marathon we're staying for the week. I can work during the days and see the sights with Cara in the evenings. She'll probably do some exploring during the days while I'm working, too. One of the days I'm going to take off and we're going to try and do some wine tasting. It's been years since I've gotten to go winetasting in serious wine country and Washington sure has it. Must study up!
