Boston

Yesterday our 10 AM flight from Nashville to Boston was delayed 8.5 hours, so we missed our connection to Iceland. Fortunately, Keva and Justin live there, so we had a place to stay. Our rescheduled flight isn't until 9 tonight, so we had a day to play in Boston. We took the redline down from Alewife (which is a kind of fish apparently) this morning downtown. Down in Boston Common we walked around and then followed the freedom trail to the harbor. Along the way we saw the old King's Chapel and adjoining graveyard. Then we found a 7-Eleven and got Slurpees. Keva, who was acting as our guide, thought it was a little nuts how excited we were about getting Slurpees. But we LOVE them. Next was Faneuil Hall, which is basically an overrated gift shop. Down at the harbor we caught the ferry over to the Navy Yard. $3.50 for a ride through the beuatiful Boston Harbor. The city really was quite gorgeous on the water with all the boats flitting about. At the Navy Yard, the USS Constitution (an old wooden sailing ship) was closed, but we were able to go on the 20th century USS Cassin Young. The kids really enjoyed climbing around it. Then we got a seafood lunch before hopping back on the T to get home in time for Keva to pick up her daughters Katie & Grace. Now we're relaxing at their house in Chelmsford before heading back to the airport.
