Rock 'n Roll Marathon Training

Herein I chronicle my training. This one's in Nashville (i.e. no travel costs) and I'm less likely to injure myself over the Winter because of my overall decrease in physical activity. Excelsior!

30 April 2016 - 26.2

18 April 2016

This past weekend I ran a 15K with the S!zzle team in 1:34:14 - not bad! I'm starting to really believe in the possibility of this marathon thing.

20 March 2016 - 1 mi

Just a short run today after yesterday's 15K trail run. I'm at about half what I planned to be at this point, but I still feel like I'm on track. I finished yesterday's run feeling like I could have just kept going (despite wiping out twice).

17 March 2016 - 3.4 mi

Same track as earlier in the week, but this time in the morning. It's so much easier to stay motivated now that warm weather has arrived. Hoping it holds out for my trail run Saturday!

15 March 2016 - 3.4 mi

I just want to thank the old lady on her porch that clapped to cheer me on as I ran up the hill. I don't know who you are, but you made my run this evening!

23 February 2016 - 6 mi

Today. I. Ran. Six. Miles. My knees hurt.

20 February 2016 - 3.1 mi

This morning Cara & I ran the Flying 5K at Wills Park in Alpharetta. We're down here for the weekend to visit our Atlanta people; staying at Grandma's. Cara finished at 41:20; I came across at 30:44 and took 3rd place in my age division (30-39).

18 February 2016 - 3+ mi

Today was my first lunchtime run at work. It was definitely a good idea. I did a short loop a little over 3 miles long through a mixed residential/industrial area. This is the first time I've written about a run in a while and I've been pretty bad about updating the chart above (sorry). I have a printout on my bathroom wall which is basically a day by day version of the above. I can't say I've been sticking to it,

3 February 2016 - 3 mi

This morning's run was the first second run of the week I've done in a while. My feet swelled and I did not go as far as I had intended when I started out. Not sure if that counts as a physical or a mental fail. Or maybe since I actually went out I should count it as a win. I have a bad habit of setting unrealistic goals and then beating myself up for not achieving them.

1 February 2016 - 3.4 mi

This morning I got to run with my Brittan. We watched The Martian last night, which she hadn't seen yet, so she was ready to do some astronaut training. There was quite a bit of walking, and it rained on us at the end. Still, overall, it was a great run because Brittan was there. She has grown into a beautiful, confident women of whom I am quite proud. Next weekend she'll be flying to Indiana where she's interviewing for grad school at Purdue, which, not uncoincidentally, has graduated more astronauts than any other university. Maybe one day Brittan will go for a run on Mars.

3 January 2016

This past week at the beach I biked many a mile, but didn't get in any runs. I suppose that counts. Ish.

13 December 2015 - 6 mi

7 December 2015 - 1 mi

5 December 2015 - 12K

Ran the 12K Winter Warm Up with Robbie from work. He beat me. I ran it in 1:08:13 (chip time). Meanwhile Cara dropped Zara off at Brentwood High for the Mini Mu math competition. Zara found Grace there, and she thinks Sanjana is coming. It should be an awesome day for her. I am a little chafed from my race between the thighs.
