Today's been something of a regular Saturday here at the Wogsland household. I got up this morning in time to shower before
taking Alora and Brittan to debate practice at 9AM. That lasts until noon. After dropping them off I decided to try a
little horticultural project with Maxwell and Zara. We took cuttings from the bush in the backyard where I found the rose
hips and planted them in little pots. After watering the pots we put them in the big east window with the honey locust
and avocado trees.
Cara got up and started working on paying the bills while I headed out to pick up the girls. It has really lowered my
stress since she has taken over that responsibility for a while. I picked the girls up and then we all lunched. I fixed
burgers on the grill for the first time this year and the sunshine was even nice enough to sit outside and read while
they cooked! The kids all walked over to the thrift store for a quick shop while I read. Then at 1 o'clock it was time to
take Brittan to practice with her string quintet. When I returned from dropping her off Maxwell declared we were heading to
Pioneers Park. Not having a good argument to the contrary I was forced to oblige. As we were getting the car, a confused
Maxwell and Zara asked why we weren't walking. It was at this point that I realized that they meant Wood's Park, which is
only 3 blocks from our house. After a short discussion we decided that Pioneers Park would still be fun anyway. There's not
enough snow left on the hill for sledding, but it was a great day to visit the nature center and hike around the prairie
exhibits with bison, turkeys, owls, herbs, etc.
Maxwell and Zara were quite excited at first, but by the end were quite tired and hungry. Maxwell, like his dad, gets quite
cranky when his belly is not full. We had to stop and pick up Brittan at 4 on the way home. Now Cara is deep in the finances
and I'm typing away. After dinner the plan is to take down the Christmas Tree and other festive winter decorations. We'll
see how far we get with that . . .
