Kitchen Terror

This particular piece was inspired by the discovery of a rather large (dime-size) dried out carcass of a brown recluse spider in the kitchen. This has been a banner year for brown recluses and this is not the first time this year I have written about them. I have included a picture of the actual spider for comparison below. The weird thing about brown recluses which makes them fairly easy to identify is the fact that they only have six eyes. This departure from spider orthodoxy (eight legs & eight eyes) is somewhat mind-blowing, I know, but maybe more careful dissection may one day reveal a vestigial pair that completes the eight. Chickens only have one functional ovary.

The fullness of my paintings from the October Game can be seen here.
