Tomorrow we head back to Tennessee after a week spent in Maryland & Virginia. Last Saturday we got a late start driving up, so instead of
just seeing the girls at college we spent the night in Staunton, VA. It was good to have a whole evening at the hotel with them, but then they
had to go back to school for the first part of the week. Sunday we drove the rest of the way up to Cara's grandmother's (Geege's) house
in Mt. Airy, MD. We had a lovely dinner that night with family there. Monday we drove to Washington where my cousin, Kristen, lives after
having just finished a stint working for the Senator from Nevada. We went to the National Zoo, got the behind-the-scenes tour of the
Capitol, and saw the Air & Space Museum. Then it was back to Geege's for a late dinner. Tuesday saw me driving back to Staunton to pick up
the girls while everybody else relaxed at Geege's. Wednesday afternoon we spent at the King's in Walkersville, MD preparing for the main
event on Thursday. Ray was there as well as Christie and her stepdaughters. Michael has also moved home to pursue his dream to become a
professional video gamer. Thursday morning saw Maxwell & I running a 5K with about three thousand other people through downtown Frederick,
MD. This time he didn't beat me. Cara cheered us on while the three girls slept in. Then it was off to the King's for the big turkey
dinner prepared, for the first time, by Bob since Cindy has a broken foot and can't really get around very well. Friday we all headed back
down into Virginia to have lunch at Cara's step-grandmother Emma's house on Lake Anna. Cara's Uncle Alan and Emma's son John were also
there. We spent the afternoon catching up while the kids played outside in the woods. Today we're spending our only full day at our
basecamp, Geege's house. And, of course, what would a family gathering be without a stomach bug! Maxwell and Cara have already fallen ill,
and we're crossing our fingers that it ends there. Puking would make tomorrow's drive only that much longer.
Some highlights (okay, the few non-blurry pictures I took):
