Westwood Field Day

Today was Field Day at Westwood Elementary and again Dad was there to help out. I loved playing skeeball on the Ocean City boardwalk as a kid, so I was happy to sign up to run the "Giant Skee Ball" game. It pretty much resembled skeeball only in that you were trying to put a ball somewhere. Nevertheless, it was fun to watch the kids running about with various levels of coordination trying to bounce tennis balls off of a trampoline and into a bucket. There were definitely more girls than boys who got in on the first try. Boys tended to throw the ball at the trampoline with quite a bit more gusto than was needed. Zara came over and gave me a wet hug halfway through the event, but I didn't see Maxwell until the end. 5th graders are pretty much the coolest people around, and one wouldn't want to tarnish reputation that by being seen alongside one's goofy parents. He still helped me clean up at the end though, vying with the other kids to carry the largest objects back to the gym.
