So a deer jumped out at my car on the highway this morning in Missouri. Threw a
real damper on what was already shaping up to be a difficult week. It took off
the driver's side mirror and smashed the window next to my head. Then it's body
thumped along the side of the minivan denting the doors and everything else. I
keep finding more little pieces of glass on myself. And the adjustor thinks it's
likely totaled. It has over 238 thousand miles on it. At least our coverage
includes a rental car, so I'll be able to get back home from Boulder next week.
Assuming I can get there that is. I stopped to work in Kansas City and then the
rain started. I have a shower curtain taped to where the window should be. It
blocked the rain, but didn't last long on the highway. So I can only really
drive when it's not raining. Right now I'm in a Starbucks in Junction City. It's
raining out there. At least I can get some work done. Or at least try to get some
work done. I got work done this morning at least. Then I tried to use a break in
the rain to make a little westward progress at lunchtime and misestimated how
far I could make it. So now I'm here for 4-5 hours waiting out the rain. Then it's
the last 500 miles to Boulder...
