As I write this we're flying over the heart of Europe on our
way to vacation in Greece. Conveniently the university where
I'm studying, Maxwell's public school, and the international
school Zara attends all have a week off next week. So we
found a cheaper place than Bergen to spend the week, and we
left a little earlier to take advantage of a cheaper flight.
The captain of the plane has just told us that it's 28 degrees
and sunny on the ground in Athens compared to the 5 degrees
an rain we left in Bergen. I also think I'm finally getting used to
Celsius! This is our 3rd flight of the day
after stops in Oslo and Brussels. I got waffles for lunch in
Belgium and, even though it was the airport, they were quite
                  good.

I do wish we hadn't had to start the day at 3:30 AM running
a kilometer and a half to catch the Flybuss to the airport
because the Byban (Bergen's lightrail) doesn't start running
until 5AM. Maxwell was smart and went to bed at 7 PM last night
in preparation, but he's still napping now along with Zara and
Cara. I must admit I also dozed off a bit earlier in this
flight and on the one before this. Must have been the wine.
Now that we're out off Norway and onto an Agaean flight alcohol
is no longer prohibitively expensive. In fact it's included in
the flight just like any other beverage.

I don't think I've spent enough time teaching the kids Greek
before this trip. Zara's a fountain of historical knowledge
due to her interest in the culture, but neither of them even
fully knows the alphabet yet. Hopefully a little time in situ
will remedy them of that deficiency.
