Pics: Random Iceland | Highlands | Geysir

Tonight we're camped within sight of the original Geysir, the place in Iceland from which we get our English word geyser. We can see it in the distance as a pillar of steam when it erupts. I've spent the afternoon/evening working here at the campsite bar (I love that this is a thing in Iceland), while the rest of the fam enjoys being out of the car after a long day driving through the highlands. I have never forded so many rivers as I did today. After a dozen or so I think I almost got good at it! The highlands upon which we drove were along F208, one of Iceland's "mountain roads". After several hours and loosing our front license plate we came upon the volcanic region of Landmannalaugar. The rivers here were warm and we spent an hour or so lounging in one where the runoff from a hot spring joined it. Very relaxing!

I think this is where our rental car lost it's front license plate...
