Ever think, wouldn't it be great if Groundhog Day was a sci-fi movie where they're fighting aliens? Me neither. But it is entertaining to watch Emily Blunt repeatedly kill Tom Cruise to reset the day. The aliens are a little comically hoky running around with a dozen arms and glowing skin. And the mechanism of alien blood making time travel possible is ridiculous, but aren't all time travel mechanisms ridiculous? Maybe we should just leave the reasons for time travel out of movies and enjoy the cinematic possibilities it opens. Cruise delivers as always with a likeable hero who you can help rooting for in spite of his faults. But man Bill Paxton looks old! I think this must have been his last movie. Still, if you like action and sci-fi and can suspend your disbelief it's an enjoyable flick.
