15 September 2020 This morning laying in bed I heard what I thought were shoes on gravel, but when I looked outside there was an elk out on the lawn. This twelve point buck was strutting his stuff and munching on the plums ... which didn't really come out so good this year. Here on the coast the apples didn't do so good and the potatos we planted stayed small (although still delicious). The elk, however, seem to be doing fine. They are much larger than the deer back home although they are not elk really, but hjort, another member of the Cervidae family native to Europe. Norwegians confusingly call moose elg, which I guess maybe is where our American word came from. |
