8 November 2020 Sometimes I love watch to crap. I admit it: I have a soft spot for time travel. So a Netflix series about time traveling seemed like a good way to escape from reality for a spell. Timeless starts off with a Silcon Valley company that's invented a time and has it stolen so they've got to send a misfit trio after it through time in their wonky prototype. So far so good. Then they of course have to through in some illuminati like conspiracy that serves as the antagonistic force driving the plot. Okay, but we still get to see them jumping through time to interesting historical events and messing them up with with sometimes interesting ramificaitons to their own time. Season two goes off the rails in the way sci-fi shows often fail: love triangles and supernatural powers. The sexual tension between two of the protagonist characters gets a love scene and then they're quickly in bed with other people leading to a mess that takes up more wasted minutes of each show. One of the scientists also magically gets visions of future missions. Meanwhile the antagonistic organization just gets more and more ridiculous. I can't say I'm surprised, but I'm definitely losing interest. |
