After years of listening to Tom Hanks voice the western toy Woody, we finally get to see him in a real western. Admittedly, when I first heard about the movie, about a man who travels town to town reading newspapers outloud to people, I thought it sounded pretty dumb. But am often wrong. This film is a heartwarming journey of self discovery for Captain Kidd, Tom Hanks' character inexplicably sharing the name of the famous pirate. Set in Texas my only complaint is that the sweeping vistas don't look like the parts of Texas he's supposedly in. But that is a minor quibble in an otherwise entertaining film.
