I'm not sure that there's anyone who writes about love with the clarity of Anne Carson. But today I've been reading about water. Plainwater to be specific. This is a collection of Carson's work, loosely organized around the subject of water. In one of the chapters she keeps a diary of her journey on the pilgrimage road to Compostela in Spain. Reading about it again reignited my desire to walk it. Maybe that'll be something I get to do when I can leave this country again. Of course, her writing about the July heat in Spain as I'm freezing here in the Norwegian winter probably also has something to do with the appeal.

Plainwater jumps. There are poems. There are single paragraph essays. There are timelines. There are places. And water flowing through all of it.
