Hilton Head
Waiting for my first covid test on this parade of pandemic theater to get home I finished reading Ben Mezrich's very entertaining Straight Flush, about the founding of AbsolutePoker.com and then the destruction of it by the arbitrary laws of the US government. Meanwhile other companies made billions addicting people to the internet in other ways. Mezrich's style can be a bit sensationalized, but the recreated dialogue he attempts to write really keeps the story going. I would have enjoyed a bit more details into the nitty gritty of the business's operations, but for the sake of flow I understand why Mezrich didn't get bogged down in them. It's a read any libertarian who's thought of moving to Costa Rica or the Caribbean will appreciate. |
