8 July 2023 - Drogheda

Writing tonight again from the Korean restaurant, Song and Jenn's Kitchen. If you're ever in Drogheda it's the most authentic Korean I've had since Joo (a Korean I worked with) took us out in Texas like 10 years ago. How time flies! A few thousand years ago in Ireland it was the neolithic and look at the place now! Switching from a trench mostly being worked by guys in their 60s to one being worked mostly by girls in their 20s has been an educational experience. The "woke mind virus" as Elon Musk so aptly named it is set to decimate our civilization. None of these women even consider having children and believe such things as "you can't be racist against white people". I wonder what the Irish would have thought about that bullshit in 19th century Britain or America.

Digging trench 1 where we've got our 19th century structural fountain using much older worked stones and adjacent to a feature we still don't entirely understand has been a humbling experience. We really don't know if we'll find anything, but the "geophysics" says we will. Getting used to how words are used in the field has also been a learning curve. But I found a total of 7 pieces of flint today, mostly flakes but also some chunks. Someone was clearly knapping the stuph here.
