3 December 2023 - Adetswil Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. It's Sunday morning and I'm up at 6AM just like any other day. These few hours before anyone else is up is me time. I can read, reflect, and write. Last night I ran the 41. Staaner Stadtlauf in Stein am Rhein, north of the river but still in Switzerland. This completed one of my goals for the year and brought the total number of cantons I've raced in up to 19/26. It was a beautiful, snowy night in a centuries old Altstadt. I almost didn't make it though. The train tracks were blocked because of that pretty snow, so I had to run the last 4 kilometers of my journey just to get to the start line. Because of the current bout of achilles tendonitis my time was quite terrible, but I still felt proud of the accomplishment because of the obstacles I surmounted. I've also started planning next year. I'm in bed by 10 most nights, but my phone often keeps me awake later. Last night I was exhausted though. Exercise is good that way. My mind is often a raging torrent that I have ot harness in some direction not to be overwhelmed by it. Activities help. Today we went out to the Weihnachtsmarkt in GrĂ¼ningen and explored the countryside nearby with the dogs. |
