This morning I was up at six as I often am these days (it comes with a habit of being in bed by ten), but I thought that maybe I would get a few more winks. Our dog Eddie, however, had other ideas. He jumped on the bed and lay there pawing at me even as I tried to pet him to calm him. Meanwhile my own stomach started churning and I remember's the pizza I'd eaten at Roma's last night. Covered with peppers, onions and meat, it was called the "Mafiosa", I think because your innards feel like someone beat you up afterwards. So I was outnumbered by my stomach and Eddie on the question of getting up, and Paula, my other dog, happily joined their camp when I got out of bed. And so at 6:30 with an ill-advised cup of coffee in my hand we three headed out for our usual morning constitutional.
