Life ever provides excitement. This weekend I'm running the Skopje half marathon, which is outside Schengen. While this wouldn't normally be much worth noting, in the crazy immigration world of today it is. While I have permission from the Zürich Migrationamt to live and work in Switzerland, I don't have a permit. Permission is apparently not the same as a permit so far as the border control folks are concerned. So flying to Skopje is rolling the dice as to whether I get back in on Monday, or on some later date when I get my official permit or return to Schengen via a less stringent border. My heart goes out to the 10's of millions who've come illegally across the US border, and the millions more who've come to Europe. The border game is bullshit of the highest order: people with guns restricting other people purely for the purpose of extracting money from them.
