Running to San Marino |

1 June 2025 - Dogana
Today as planned the dogs and I went from Rimini to San Marino. We started off around 10:30AM, which turned out to be too late. The thought was that Iwona would meet us in Dogana and the bus there didn't leave until 12:45. I thought we'd have enough time for a few breaks and beat her there. Nothing went according to plan though! The greenway through Rimini was fine, but the Italian sunshine on the country roads after that really overheated the dogs. We stopped at a cafe on the roadside to cool down and have some water. But another couple kilometers down the road Eddie had really overheated and was dragging; unable to run. So we stopped at an air-conditioned brewery that I thought we'd have passed long before it opened. It took Eddie a good half hour to slow his intense panting, although Paula recovered in about 10 minutes. Back on the road Iwona told us that her bus decided not to go to San Marino today, so we stranded halfway to Dogana. So I while I tried to run with the dogs she tried to hitchhike. Neither of us was successful. The dogs kept tiring and needing to rest so we switched to walking. And Iwona found a private shuttlebus. We all these complications we still made it to San Marino and enjoyed a pizza together in Dogana. One more country visited!
