Arra Avakian's Armenia: A Journey Through History should really be subtitled Garbage, Not History. Avakian starts off his little encyclopedia by informing the reader that the Garden of Eden was located in Armenia, the wheel was invented there, and that Noah's Ark landed on Mt. Ararat. It doesn't get any better and he provides scant references for other "facts" presented in the book. This is the sort of thing that comes up at the top of the search listings on Amazon for "History of Armenia" these days. I think it's a wider problem with the site pushing garbage to the top. Searching for recent bestsellers I am often served short summaries in the results masquerading as the book I'm looking for.
