15 September 2026 - Finieyrols After breaking camp I headed out into the cool, misty morning. I never did quite catch up to the mist in the distance, but I did find coffee in Aumont-Aubrac around 9AM. I have also neglected phone and powerback charging, so I need to take some time to do that at well. And I bought a sandwich, because it's always good to have one in reserve. On the way out of town I also finally found an open post office so I could buy stamps to mail those postcards I bought back in Le-Puy. Today I also switched to my second pair of shorts, which has mitigated the chafing. Although my feet have started to blister after two 30 kilometer days in a row. Cowfields, scrublands, and pine forests all morning. At Peyre-en-Aubrac I found a bar to work at in the shade for the afternoon. This also meant I had time to recharge everything to full power. I am, however, out of clean clothing so I will have to stop somewhere I can do laundry tonight. Caroline welcomed me to La rose de l'Aubrac in Finieyrols for the night. I could camp outside, and she did my laundry while I showered before dinner. It was fun to eat dinner at the gîte with a table full of French Canadian ladies and Hiro, who I got to know better that evening. The freshly washed shirt I put on for dinner after my shower was still quite wet, but the heat of a human body is fortunately enough to dry it rather quickly in the dry air. The rest of my things I hoped would dry on the rack overnight. And to read this evening I sat on a couch in a nice warm room with a jug of wine before heading out to my tent to sleep. |
