17 October 2026 - Erlenbach It's a rainy weekend here in Erlenbach. The Zürichsee makes its own weather during the colder months of the year, which means the day often starts with a bank of fog over the valley where the lake is. Some days the sun eventually burns it off. Some days not. When I lived up in the Oberland one of Bäretswil's boasts was that it was nebelfrei, that is, free of the fog that often lays over the lower valleys where the lakes are. And this was often, but not always, true. Now that I live by the lake that also means under the fog. ![]() Looking out my window fog obscures the hills on the far shore. |
