Tonight Cara & I are watching Star Trek (quelle surprise!) and she's blogging about each TNG episode for her English class. Now would probably be a good time to mention that Cara has decamped from Wogsland.org and set up her very own site: thinkCara.com. While I was sad to see her go, it's great to see her defining herself. You'll note that Cara favors a more 21st century approach to her website rather than my spartan HTML style.

It was raining and in the 30's when I got up this morning; up early for a 5K that looked like it was really going to suck. My 2nd go at the State Farm 5K was my 28th race so far, and I did pretty good (31:30) considering that 2/3rds of it was a trail run through the mud. We decided not to get Maxwell & Zara up to run the 1 mile because of the bad weather, but despite the forecast the rain cleared up by racetime and there was even a brief bit of sunshine. Keeping with tradition I wore the sweatshirt from the Brasstown Bald Buster, my previous race back in December, which meant by the end of the race it didn't matter that it wasn't raining - I was still soaked!

Today my sister is driving back to John’s Creek from Nebraska, taking her daughter and our parent with her. It was great to have them come for such a long visit – by the end Alexandra was smiling at my approach rather than the suspicious looks I received when they first arrived. We also had the privilege of seeing her roll over for the first time! I posted pictures of their trip here.

Today winter declared that it would not go quietly away! Just when I had resigned myself to a few months of brown visages before the green of spring kicked in – BAM! - we’ve got our winter back. The past week’s melting and rain have made for a slushy mess along the roads, which will be really interesting tomorrow if we get a hard freeze tonight. Tomorrow’s supposed to be colder with more snow, but the 50’s in the forecast for next week mean not much will remain by the time family arrives for the kids’ spring break. There might be some more while they’re here though…
