Today it's in the 80's here in Nebraska. As it's a dry, western heat it got me to thinking about last summer's adventures and I
realized I'd never posted the following vignette about our trip to California's gold country:
May 20th, 2010 - Despite only having one appellation, the
Moselle Luxembourgoise,
the country of Luxembourg, or Lëtzebuerg as it's locally known, has quite an array of viticulture combining both the French
tradition to its east and the German tradition to its west.

Jaime & I ran the Alpharetta Mayor's Challenge 5K this morning. We almost didn't make it. I forgot that if a mother of a six month
old asks to carpool, don't expect to be on time. The race was also not the best organized one. The directions online led us down
Old Milton Parkway, which they closed a half hour before the race started. With over a thousand people you'd think there'd be chip
timing too, but no. Still, it was a fun to race with Jaime again!

We went to Fort Pulaski, GA today. See pictures

Today is our last full day at the beach as Saturday I'm planning to run the Alpharetta Mayor's Challenge with my sister Jaime.

Zara woke me up this morning to tell me her forehead hurt. When even a nice, hot shower didn't clear out her sinuses and she told me
her feet and hands hurt too, I gave her some breakfast and some ibuprofen and told her she could lay on the couch. You can guess what
happened . . .

Yesterday we attended the Bluffton Village Festival. I have never seen so much overpriced art!!! Stuph that you typically see for a
few bucks at a garage sale like bird sculptures and paints of the lighthouses were on sale here for hundreds of dollars. My mom loved
it, but it was not exactly as kid-friendly as advertised. Zara did enjoying watching an old man turn wood on a lathe though. He told
her all about how it worked and several different techniques he used. By noon we were ready to head home for lunch...
In the evening we went for a bikeride down the beach and I pulled Zara behind me in one of those things. She's been good all week, so
I'd become rather lax about buckling - a mistake to be sure! When I made a joke that we were going to bike straight into the ocean
Zara bailed; I heard a thump and turned around to see a crying Zara rolling across the sand. After I comforted her and she stopped
crying I asked Zara why she jumped out. I didn't jump out! Did you get bounced out? No, I walked out. Needless to say I saw to
it that she stayed buckled for the rest of the ride.

It's a lazy, rainy day here on Hilton Head. We still haven't been down to the beach yet, so Zara has no comparison to Lake Michigan.
While there Sunday she decided it was big enough to be a sea despite our discussion of salinity. Hopefully the precipitation will
fall off tonight or tomorrow so she can see the differences firsthand...

Today we drove down from Indiana to Hilton Head Island. On the way we passed through the
Yadkin Valley and made a brief stop at one of the highlights of the region,
Raffaldini Vineyards.
1 May 2010 - Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder's Meeting
Thanks to a good friend, Alora, Brittan and I got to attend the Annual Berkshire Hathaway Meeting in Omaha. Often called the capitalist
woodstock because of the atmosphere surrounding one of the world's richest people - Warren Buffett - it was an incredible experience.
My notes fit better in my economics blog.
