Silkworm

Bombyx mori

Although the silkworm is the larval stage of the silk moth, since the silkworms spin the silk into cocoons that are harvested before the moths can develop they are the better known form of the species. They have been domesticated for this purpose and I raised them as a child. They prefer to eat leaves from the mulberry tree.
