Salmon Fluke

Gyrodactylus salaris

The salmon fluke is a freshwater parasite of Atlantic salmon and its relatives that lives and feeds on their skin. This leads to secondary infections that can completely wipe salmon populations as is likely the case in many Norwegian river systems since the parasite's introduction to the country in the 20th century.
