Friuli-Venezia Giulia

Friuli-Venezia Giulia is made up of 4 provinces, namely Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste and Udine. Collectively with Trentino and Veneto this part of Italia is known as Tre Venezie although the region was more recently a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire than the Venetian one. In addition to Italian, Friulian, Slovenian and Deutsch are also spoken there. Most regional wines include "Friuli" somewhere in their names, and the IGT label which encompasses the region is Venezia Giulia.
