Franciacorta

Franciacorta is a wine grown in the Brescia province of the Lombardian region. The wine is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Nero fermented in the bottled to make a Spumante (sparkling) beverage with at least 11.5% alcohol. If made with just Chardonnay and Pinot bianco then it is called satèn, and a rosé can be made as well using at least 15% Pinot Nero. It was granted its DOC status on 21 July 1967 and elevated to a DOCG 1 September 1995.
