Cortese di Gavi, shortenable to Gavi, is a white wine which may also be Frizzante or Spumante. It is made solely from the Cortese grape, locally called Courteis, grown in the Alessandria province of the Piemonte region. This DOC was created on 26 June 1974 and elevated to a DOCG on 9 July 1998. At least 10.5% alcohol is required in the wine.
