Ghemme is a wine made from the grapes used are Nebbiolo (75%) and Vespolina and/or Bonarda Novarese (25%). grown in the Novara province of the Piemonte region. This DOC was created on 18 September 1969 and changed to a DOCG on 29 May 1997. The wine requires at least three years of aging before release and a 12% alcohol level. The Riserva requires a 12.5% alcohol level and at least four years of aging before release, of which at least 25 months are on oak and at least 9 months are in the bottle.
