Gattinara is a wine grown in the commune of Gattinara in the Italian province of Vercelli. This area was granted DOC status on 9 July 1967 and elevated to a DOCG on 20 October 1990. Made from mostly Nebbiolo (Spanna) as well as some Vespolina and Bonarda di Gattinara. Three years of aging and at least 12.5% alcohol are a requirement for this wine. For the Riserva four years of aging and at least 13% alcohol are required.
