Vernaccia di San Gimignano, declared a DOC on 3 March 1966 and raised to a DOCG on 9 July 1993, is a wine grown in the San Gimignano commune of Siena. It is made from at least 90% Vernaccia, with the remainder being other white varietals. An alcohol content of at least 11% is needed. At least 14 months of barrel aging plus 4 in the bottle are required to be labeled Riserva.
