On October 10th, 1990 Torgiano Rosso Riserva was elevated out of the the Torgiano DOC to become a DOCG. The wine is made primarily with Sangiovese and Canaiolo, but as much as 10% Trebbiano Toscano, Ciliegiolo and/or Montepulciano is allowed. An alcohol level of 12.5% and 3 years of aging are required.
