Switzerland

Switzerland is unusual among European countries with a lot of wine production in that they export very little of it. I don't think I ever tasted a Swiss wine before moving to Switzerland. The country mainly uses a French-style Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée system, even in the German and Italian speaking cantons. Viticulture is regulated primarily by cantons, for example, a cross-cantonal region like the AOC Zürichsee has differing regulations for Zürich and Schwyz. Much of Swiss wine is is also bottled in 70cl bottles rather than he international standard 75cl bottles.
