![]() Leaving Cahors, one crosses the Lot on the 14th century Pont Valentré. And then there are the steps carved into the sheer cliff of limestone on the other side. Then it's down and up hills through the fields and forests to Labastides-Marnhac, which is big enough to have water and a café. Then it's pretty flat to Cézac, where there is a picnic area. This is followed by a descent to the next town, Lascabanes, which has a gîte with a small store. Then it's back up another hill. At the top is the Chapelle Saint-Jean-le-Froid, which features water, a dry toilet, a picnic table, and a flat area for camping. From there it' all open fields to the sizeable town of Montcuq, which has stores and restaurants. Hikes:
