Along the way from Nasbinals to Aubrac one crosses out of Lozère and into Aveyron. The red dirt underfoot is a reminder that this region was also once volcanic. Aubrac is on a hillside overlooking the valley and has a few restaurants. Then begins the long descent to Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac. Dropping 400 meters the weather gets warmer and the heathlands turn into forest. The town itself is by a creek and has restaurants and stores. Hikes:
