Ostabat - Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France Trails Index | Via Podiensis

This is the last section of the Via Podiensis. From Ostabat to Larzabale is farm and forest trails, and then the trail follows the road up and over into the Nive river watershed. Descending into this valley at the foot of the Pyrenées one reaches the town of Saint-Jean-le-Vieux, and from there civilization is never far. Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port is at the confluence of the three streams which create the Nive. From here the Camino francés continues on into España.
