Tweet This section of the Camino goes down from Pamplona to Puente la Reina, which is also known as Gares in Basque. Signage is bilingual in Spanish and Basque along the way. The Camino passes through field and forest along the way between towns. In 2022 I started at the Pamplona train station. Pamplona is a beautiful shining city on a hill and just feels medieval. Going on out into the countryside one finds there is quite a hill to climb, but the views at the top are impressive. Heading down to the valley I stopped in Uterga for dinner at the albergue Baztán. I camped in a field outside the village of Muruzábal, which appears to be a Phoenician name. Walking through the town of Obanos in the early AM the whole place seemed set up for a bull-running. Finally in Puente la Reina I easily found a place to have breakfast at 8 AM. Hiked: |
