This section of the Alpine Panorama Trail mainly follows the Jaun/Jogne river as the Jauntal becomes the Gorge de Jogne. It starts in Jaun, descending immediately to the riverside. One is never far from the river all the way to Charmey. There the river becomes a reservoir. The dam at the far end is part of the trail and gives impressive views into the gorge. Sadly, when I hiked this section in 2026 the gorge section was closed and instead the detour took us up the hill to Monte Silva castle ruins before descending to Broc. At Broc there is a choclate factory and the start of another reservoir, but the trail heads up along the Sarine river instead. Then there is the last climb up to the hilltop town of Gruyères.
