Tweet This segment of the Alpine Panorama Trail starts on the Thur River in the St. Gallen village of Stein. Then it follows a creek over 800 meters up an increasingly steep trail to Vorder Höhi. I first hiked it in mid-April and the snow went from non-existant to fun to difficult. Between Vorder and Hinter Höhi there isn't too much up and down, but there are some level trails along very steep hillsides that become treacherous when covered by snowfields. After Hinter Höhi the trail heads down to Amden high above the deep blue Walensee. Views from the meadows are breathtaking in Spring. Hikes: |
