Rigi is on the edge of the Alps between the Vierwaldstädtersee, the Zugersee and the Laurznersee. That plus its distinctive triangular shape from the tilted sedimentary beds it's made of make Rigi one of the easiest peaks to pick out from the plains below. From the summit one can see not only the plains to the north, but the Alps to the south.
