Somehow, all of my local children decided independently that they would bring a friend to our annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Zara was the first, inviting her friend Grace and her little brother Ethan who live in the neighborhood. Their parents
are from China, so the Easter Egg Hunt is still somewhat new to them. Next was Brittan, who hasn't been at our Easter
Egg Hunt in a few years on account of living in Virginia. She brought along her friend Shaina who was just as bubbly
and talkative as Brittan. I can see why they get along. Last was Maxwell's friend Zay, who is at our house most afternoons
and weekends. Cara had figured he would be a church (his dad is in the ministry), but apparently they were going to
an afternoon service. Because of this, Zay ended up sharing Maxwell's eggs.
Brittan helped me hide the eggs for the younger kids and each had their own color since all the eggs were already labeled
with an M or a Z from previous years. Ethan (5) was the youngest and first to finish and Shaina (22) was the oldest and
not used to the egg hiding intensity of our family. She also ended up with the green colored eggs which hid well even
in plain sight. Below are the pictures from the hunt. I got a little sunburned hiding and then following the kids around.
Cara had a lovely lunch ready for us at the end of cut fruit and ham, which proved a bit problematic because Shaina
turned out to be a vegetarian. Cara improvised with some toretellini though. During the meal we learned that Shaina
was from Carbondale, IL, where we have stopped on many a roadtrip west at the Fazoli's (the distance from Atlanta puts it
at about lunchtime). Small world, Shaina has also been to that Fazoli's many times.
All the sun took a lot out of me, so I ended up taking an afternoon nap once the girls had headed back to Vanderbilt
and friends had left. A lazy Sunday afternoon indeed!
