Spring is beautiful! Everything is turning green again. And flowering. And pollinating. Ah, pollen, that thing which
fills my head with snot and makes me feel so very derp.
This year I don't have a big garden to work on or chickens to tend to so I'm struggling a little fulfilling my inner
need to see things grow. I have some potted plants on the patio and a little area next to it to plant in where Zara
and I planted three blackberry bushes. Sadly the mint we tried to transplant from Fairview did not make it. However,
a number of the moonflower seeds have sprung up there as well as some pumkins from last Fall's carving. I will have
to train them to grow onto the patio rather than down the hill toward the sun! I planted some red onions in a long
flowerbox and bought a cherry tomato plant, a citronella plant, and a rosemary plant. Other than that I've just
brought out the plants which wintered inside: oregano, taro, basil and my last loquat tree. I had two left, but I
made the mistake of asking Ray to water my plants while we were in Florida last month and he decided it was a weed and
tore it up. I'm still not happy about that.
As you no daubt noticed from the post last weekend, Spring sports have started. Zara is playing soccer again, but
Maxwell was unfortunately unsuccessful at track try-outs. I ran a 10K (poorly) at the end of last month and I've signed
up for my first race in Texas next week. Then in May we're all four doing the Strawberry Stride and Cara & I are
also running as a team in an obstacle course race against Conlan and Jandra.
