For some reason I'm reading a lot of fiction this Summer. I blame the library. This past weekend we saw Jurassic World, so I guess I was in a Crichton mood. Unlike much of Crichton's work, Pirate Latitudes does not feature technology. It is a straight up tale of English privateering on the Spanish in the 17th century Caribbean. Still, it was written with Crichton's usual flourish of exciting, event-driven stories. I had difficultly putting it down and finished it in just a couple evenings.
